GOING ORGANIC in DHARAMSALA
If you are going past Dharamsala, schedule a stop at ‘Dharti Pukare- My Earth Store’. It’s right opposite Gyuto Temple (Karmapa Monastery gate) on Sidhbari Road. It’s a lovely store, being run by ex city dwellers who ran away to sample the good life in the mountains. A few friends run a farm together, the produce of which is not commercially available. But they opened this store to provide shelf space for handmade and organic products produced by others. Their flier states that their products are sourced ‘through carefully selected NGO partners and socially consciour businesses’.
They have yummy breads, cakes, jams and other perishables apart from Andretta pottery, fresh and aromatic herbs (rosemary, thyme etc) and organic spices, cereals, pulses and flours. So next time you pass by, have a look and stock up.
You can mail them for details at myearthstore@gmail.com

Hey Ankur,
thanks alot for puting words of appreciation of our work in Dharamshala. Friends like u keep motivating & helping us to spread the word around about our organic foods and natural products movement. Its the only way we can convert farms in India as pure & organic again. Also when we use hand made products, it helps in generating local employment for rural communities. so a great way to lead a healthy and purposeful life.
thanks once again, really appreciate ur effort.
BTW, the photos here have come pretty neat.
cheers,
Anish Joel
