‘My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen…Baby, I’ve been kissed by a macaron’ (with apologies to Seal)
Delicate Elegant. Light as air. A perfect symphony of tastes and textures.
The restrained beauty of this macaron is well balanced by its excessive price. At Rs 130 per piece it is going to be very difficult to get addicted to them.
L’Opera Patisserie and Boulangerie in Khan Market, Delhi is a new French bakery to hit the city. They have been selling their bread at the Godrej Nature’s Basket for close to a year now. It is undoubtedly the best that’s available in retail stores in Delhi.
This is their flagship store and they have coffee, breads, quiches, sandwiches, tarts, cakes, pastries, and their signature item: macarons. Along with the macarons I got two pizza slices – tomato-cheese and onion.
I got them home and I had them cold. The topping was nice and herb-y, not drowning in cheese; a little thicker and doughy than I appreciate but I won’t mind having them for a quick snack.
Macarons, on the other had, I could stalk.

L’Opéra is my current temple. Although the quality of their macarons has gone down in the few odd months that they’ve hit the market. The millefeuille and eclairs are to die for. I’m told they have a stellar chicken quiche but they somehow have the weirdest supply issues (I finally got hold of a macaron on my fourth visit…)
I’m a big time foodie and a passionate cook. I do not have a sweet tooth so trust me when I say that this place is a breath of fresh air.
Yeipieeee…finally something tasty for the gluten intolerant!!! Thanks Ankur for stalking the Delhi eateries. I think I deserve the Rs. 130/- treat once in a way.
At Rs.130/- a piece, you have to make it last longer than 130 seconds!
